We are hiring a Clinic Veterinarian and a Shelter Veterinarian.  If you are interested in a short term Relief Veterinarian temporary, trial position, please let us know!

Position Description

●    Provide wellness and sick care to client-owned pets through our low-cost community clinic, including evaluation, case management, treatment decisions and direction of support staff
●    HVHQSN training preferred; must also be comfortable with dentistry, soft tissue, abdominal and preferably orthopedic surgery
●    Mentor, direct and manage veterinary technician team to provide consistent and high quality medical and surgical care
●    Communicate with clients regarding treatment recommendations; willingness to use a spectrum of care approach to veterinary medicine and adjust treatment plans to client budgets
●    Maintain an understanding of programs and work collaboratively with all departments across the organization to ensure the highest level of service and care are provided to animals and clients
●    Assist in the development, implementation, and revision of goals, policies, and procedures for the shelter clinic
●    Coordinate and collaborate with local veterinarians and clinic/shelter professionals to promote positive and productive relationships; participate in arranging for care at private veterinary hospitals as needed
●    Perform humane euthanasia according to established protocols including decision making requirements
●    Maintain medical record and controlled substance logs to standards of veterinary and sheltering practices and organizational SOPs; ensure that records are in order and complete and maintained in organizational systems; provide information in a manner understandable by adopters
●    Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements

●    Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) required or equivalent
●    Ability to acquire a US Virgin Islands License
●    Current, or ability to acquire DEA License
●    Preferred HVHQSN trained, or willingness to obtain training and proficiency within 1 year
●    Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a team member in a fast paced, high stress environment
●    Tolerate noise level from moderate to high / typical shelter environment
●    Ability to work with diverse cultures with compassion and empathy
